From here, your journey continues into Italy’s Friuli region, where medieval towns, rolling vineyard hills and outstanding food and wine define the landscape.

The route blends nature and culture at every stage. You’ll cycle through valleys framed by towering peaks, cross dramatic gorges, and pause in charming towns that reveal centuries of history. Itinerary

  1. Day01

    Arrival in Bled

    3-star hotel

Welcome to Bled, Slovenia’s picture-perfect gateway to Triglav National Park. On arrival you’ll find a compact, walkable town built around a crystal-clear lake with its tiny island and a medieval castle perched on a cliff. The castle gives a commanding view over the water and surrounding mountains and is a good first stop to get your bearings. Take a gentle lakeside walk, hire a traditional wooden boat to row to the island if you like, or simply sit at a café and watch the light change on the water.

Bled’s town centre is small but lively, with artisan shops, bakeries and restaurants serving regional dishes. Don’t miss trying the local kremšnita cream cake; it is a local institution. If you arrive early, a short hike or cable car ride up nearby viewpoints is an easy way to stretch your legs before the cycling begins. Arrive at your hotel, allowing time to prepare bikes, review route notes and meet your guide or local contact if you are self-guided. Evening at leisure to enjoy a relaxed meal and a final check of kit for tomorrow’s ride.

Reviews

This trip was well organised with support delivering baggage to the next hotel in timely manner. Dealing with Luke from Pedal Ventures was fuss free, thankyou Luke. The ride is described as a moderate ride; there were some tough climbs but the views were worth it. I've done some cycle touring in the UK but these mountains would have defeated me without the use of an electric which helped a lot. Distances are easily managed. Slovenia is a lovely country to visit and Bled a cracking town if a little expensive to eat out. That said, aside from Bled I found meals, wine etc to berelatively cheap. Plan you cycling times though as I failed to reach a restaurant for lunch at 2pm but there again the continental breakfasts were huge. If you do go ask to stop at the glamping site on days 3 and 4. Its absolutely stunning and for me set the accomodation standard both in terms of substance but also a welcoming service. One aspect worth considering is planning how to get back to Ljubliana airport. There is a transfer to Bled but you need to sort this out at the outset. I enjoyed it so much that I'm going to come back with my wife.
