A cross-border loop through the PAMINA region, out from Strasbourg into Germany's Rastatt and back through Northern Alsace's biosphere reserve and the Marne-Rhine Canal.
It's a considered route for anyone who wants more than vineyards from an Alsace trip - expect flower-decked border villages, a genuine Maginot Line fortress, and forest riding through two UNESCO biosphere reserves.
Highlights
Arrive in Strasbourg and explore the Gothic cathedral and UNESCO-listed old town.
Ride the Rhine plain, cross by ferry at Drusenheim, and reach the baroque old town of Rastatt.
Return to Alsace through the Sauer Delta nature reserve to the flower-adorned village of Hunspach, with an optional detour to the Schoenenbourg Maginot Line fortress.
A hillier stage on the Franco-German Pamina cycle path, via Lembach's Four à Chaux fort or the wooded valleys around Dahn.
Gentle hills through forests, meadows and orchards to the rocky outcrop village of La Petite Pierre.
Pass the Romanesque abbey at Neuwiller before reaching Saverne and its Château des Rohan, with an optional extension into the lock-keepers' valley.
An easy, flat ride along EuroVelo 5 and the Marne-Rhine Canal back into Strasbourg, past the European Parliament.
